Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait from BASF uses the high-performing active ingredient metaflumizone to deliver quick knockdown and lasting protection against fire ants. Working predominantly through ant ingestion, fire ants aggressively begin feeding within 15 minutes to 12 hours of application, with impacted insects typically dying in 72 hours or less.
Benefits & Use
Siesta Insecticide Fire Ant Bait functions as a sodium blocker insecticide that acts on the insect’s nervous system, disrupting the voltage-dependent sodium neuron channel. Upon ingestion of the bait product, these neurons become deactivated, causing the ant to enter a state of paralysis.
Approved Sites: Residential and Commercial. Outdoor use. Per label instructions.
Application Information: Apply Siesta at the first sign of fire ant activity. For best results, apply Siesta in the early morning or late afternoon when ants are most active. Ants are most active when temperatures are above 60° F.
Do not apply when the ground is saturated with water, heavy dew, or when heavy rains are expected within 12 hours. Do not water-in granules after application. Wait at least 12 hours after application before irrigating treated area.
For best results, allow 7 days after bait application before applying a contact insecticide to the bait treated area.
